1. Brawlhalla
Brawlhalla is a 2D platform fighter much like super smash bros, but different in a few ways. Brawlhalla comes with a wide variety of unique an original characters each with their own fighting style, each character has their own stats and weapons load out (which consists of two weapons).
Brawlhalla includes many different game modes and many different maps. The game developers have obviously worked hard and it is evident by the diversity and the amount of available characters. In my opinion, they deserve your support. Due to that, I’m thinking about paying money for downloadable content on a free to play game for the first time in a long time.
2. Team Fortress 2
For those unfortunate souls who are a PC gamer and have yet to play TF2, here we go. Team Fortress 2 is a team based FPS. It comes with an array of classes and weapons to choose from along with a bunch of cosmetic customization options. Team Fortress 2 comes with a few different playable modes which is enough to keep most players busy. I personally love to play as spy. Being able to covertly disguise myself as my recent prey is too much fun for words.
As an added bonus, modders are constantly creating their own servers and modes. This ensures that the game has a huge re-playability. Overall Team Fortress 2 well worth a play even if it is form the barbarian age of Steam.
3. Cry of Fear
Cry of Fear is a psychological horror. It is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat throughout most parts of the game. Horror movies have never shocked or scared me, but this game is one of the few horror titles that really gets it right. The graphics are a little bit sub-par, but the gameplay was great enough to make me continue on. Cry of Fear is filled to the brim with puzzles, dark places and monsters. The cut scenes are handled well, and the story developed well.
I admit a few parts genuinely scared me which made the experience thoroughly enjoyable. As a half life mod, this game is certainly worth your time (regardless of how short the play through is).
4. World of Tanks
World of Tanks is a time accurate tank simulator (for those who haven’t seen the constant ads). Select a tank from any of the many factions and work your way up through the (what is essentially a skill tree) tree of tanks. World of Tanks has a very extensive upgrading systems. Now, I’m personally not a big tank person, though that doesn’t change the fact this is a great game to kill time for every type and style of player, from the casual to the most competitive of gamers.
There are a few shortcomings of this game though, apart from the typical mechanics of the game, there is only one game mode. It’s hard to want to level up, for people who aren’t WOW players, therefore the grind can feel a bit much when you are playing the same exact game over and over again. That being said, World of Tanks is still a game you should check out. Just be ready for a bit of a grind.
